Welcome to SmartShare, developed and maintained by Mr SS Applications. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By installing or using SmartShare you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.

Our privacy promise

SmartShare is built privacy-first. All transfers happen directly, device to device, over your local Wi-Fi network or a Wi-Fi hotspot. Your files, photos, videos, contacts and documents are never uploaded to our servers or any cloud, and we do not collect, store, track, sell or share your personal data or files. SmartShare has no user accounts and does not run advertising or content-analytics tracking.

1. How sharing works

Send / Receive transfer files straight to the other device over the local network — never relayed through us.
Connect to PC and Phone Share start a small web server on your device that is reachable only by devices on the same Wi-Fi network or hotspot. Anyone who can join that network and open the address (and, for a hotspot, knows its password — which can be shared via a QR code) can browse and download the files you make available, and upload files to your device. Only use these features on networks you trust, and stop them when you are done.
A connection is active only while you keep the feature running; closing/stopping it shuts the server down.

2. Permissions we use

Nearby devices / Location — to discover devices and to create or join a Wi-Fi hotspot for transfers. Location is never used to track you.
Photos, video, audio & media — to list and send the media you choose and to save files you receive.
All files access (Manage external storage) — optional. Granted only if you want to browse and share your full file tree (every folder, not just media) over Connect to PC / Phone Share. You can deny or revoke it; the app still works with media files only.
Contacts — only when you choose to share contacts; they are exported to a .vcf file that you send.
Camera — only to scan a QR code to connect or join a hotspot.
Notifications — to show transfer progress and keep background sharing visible.
Install packages — only if you choose to install a received APK.

You may revoke any permission at any time from your device’s system settings.

3. Data retention

Files you receive are saved to your device’s storage (for example Download/SmartShare) and remain there until you delete them. SmartShare keeps a transfer history on your device only; clearing it removes it permanently. We hold no copy of your files or history.

4. Children

SmartShare is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

5. Security

Transfers occur on your local network. We recommend using a hotspot password and only sharing on networks you control. As with any local sharing, anyone on the same network you explicitly allow may access the files you choose to make available.

6. No warranty & data loss

SmartShare is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Transfer speed and reliability depend on your devices, storage and network conditions, which are outside our control.

We do not guarantee that every transfer will complete successfully or that files will be free of errors. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mr SS Applications is not liable for any loss, corruption or damage of data, or any other damages, arising from the use of (or inability to use) this app. Always keep your own backups of important files, and verify received files before deleting the originals.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
